How much does it cost to have windows cleaned? £15 a visit round here

£15 a visit for a 2 or 3 bed, £20 for a 4 bed and up. That is on a regular round, every 6 or 12 weeks, with the frames, doors and sills done as part of it. A one off is double.

I have been cleaning windows round Saffron Walden since 2022. Those are my prices, and they are on the window cleaning page with everything else. I have put them here because this is the question people type into Google before they will message anyone.

So here is the whole answer, including the bit nobody puts on the price list.

How much does it cost to have windows cleaned, house by house

That is the outside glass, the frames, the doors and the sills. Not just the glass.

It is done with a pure water pole from the ground. No ladders against your gutters, no streaks when it dries, and the upstairs gets done properly because the pole reaches it.

Skylights and conservatory roofs are priced on their own. Send a photo and I will tell you.

Why is a one off double?

The first clean on a house that has not been done in a year or two takes about twice as long. The frames have a green line along the bottom, the sills are black, and the glass has a film on it that one pass will not shift.

So the first visit is the expensive one. Every visit after it is £15 because I am only taking off six weeks of dirt, not two years of it.

If you only want it done once, before a sale or a party, that is fine. It is £30 for a 2 or 3 bed and you know that before anyone turns up.

Why most people pay for the round, not the clean

Most people do not leave a window cleaner because of the clean. They leave because the cleaner stopped turning up.

So the thing you are actually paying £15 for is a fixed slot. Same day each cycle, same person every visit, which is me. If it rains the visit moves to the next dry day. It does not drop off the round because the weather turned or because your road got inconvenient.

I wrote up how often a window cleaner should come separately. The short version is 6 weekly if you are on a main road or near trees, 12 weekly if you are not.

Three things to ask before you say yes to any quote, mine included:

1. Are the frames and sills in the price, or just the glass? 2. Who turns up? The person quoting, or whoever is free that day? 3. What happens when it rains?

If the answers are no, don't know, and nothing, the £12 quote is not £12.
